Charleston
Newspapers Federal Credit Union is a member owned institution
serving the employees of Charleston Newspapers,
credit union employees, retirees, and the family members
of all the above.
The Gazette and Daily Mail Credit Unions were chartered in the fall of 1939. Charleston Newspapers Federal Credit Union was formed from the merging of the Gazette and Daily Mail credit unions on March 15, 1972.
The credit union promotes thrift among its members through deposits to share (savings) accounts. These funds are then used to make low-cost loans to members for various purposes.
The credit union officials are elected by the membership at the annual meeting. The board of directors consists of eleven people who have the responsibility for the general direction and control of the affairs of the credit Union. Each board member also serves as a loan officer.
The supervisory committee consists of three people appointed by the Board of Directors and serves as the audit team of the Credit Union.
